It's official- Mr. Excitement, Troy Franklin Jr., former point guard of the Premier Basketball League's Lake Michigan Admirals, signed an overseas contract to join Team FOG Naethved, of Denmark, this coming season. Team FOG Naestved plays in the highest ranking (TIER 1) Danish basketball League;Basketligaen.

Troy is a native of Baltimore, Maryland USA, where he was First Team All-Metro and Baltimore County Player of the Year, while attending Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School, under Head Coach, Tom Rose. Troy played NCAA D1 basketball at Towson and Coppin State Universities. He graduated from Coppin State University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentrations in business and sports management.

Team FOG Naethved's head Coach is the well-respected Karaicic Bogdan. Coach Bogdan has 10 years of professional coaching experience; five in Hungary and five in Denmark. Coach Bogdan, is entering into his second complete season with Team FOG. When asked about the acquisition of Troy Franklin Jr., he said " I was thrilled about having Troy join our team for the 2015-2016 season. I was surprised that someone of his talent level was still available"... "Troy's PBL season highlights were very good. The review of his complete PBL game film, the game film of his NCAA D1 play and the various in depth interviews that were conducted, validated my belief that Troy can play at a high level and that he is capable of having great success in our league. Of course since this is his first European league experience, we anticipate that it will take some time for Troy to adjust but we have no doubt he'll do great for us and help us reach our goals while we work to further his development, helping him reach his goals in life and in basketball".

I then asked what part of his play attracted you the most and how do you see him fitting in with your team's style of play? He responded, "Troy showed great quickness but what impressed me most was his defense, his ability to create his own shot and his being able to play at a very high speed".  We want to play fast but organized. We believe he'll help us playing up-tempo basketball on the offensive end and he'll be great in our full court press and other defensive rotations".

Chris Glisson, President and owner of the Premier Basketball League's Lake Michigan Admirals said "Troy is a winner, a leader and hardworking team player who helped lead the Admirals to the PBL Championship Series."  When asked to describe Troy's game, Chris Glisson said,  "Mr. Excitement is a relentless defender that is really super quick. He has ridiculous ball handling and passing skills, and he can really shoot it from way behind the arc. When you put that with his competitive drive you have the formula for greatness, no matter where he plays"...Glisson went on to say that  "If Troy's unique, aggressive style of play and flair, impact overseas like they effected the PBL, it will most likely mean additional victories for his new team... Troy is so much fun to watch play the game of basketball; I know he can help bring more fans to the seats of their home arena (Park Arena) and other Danish Basketball league venues.. With the right marking, Mr. Excitement could give a real boost to the game time ratings of any TV partners of the league."

Troy was chosen as U.S. Basketball First Team All PBL, and selected to the All PBL Defensive Team.

In a 16 game season; out of 229 Premier Basketball League players, Troy Franklin Jr. was tied for 6th in total points with 329 and he averaged 20.56 points per game.  He was second in made three point shots (45) averaging nearly 3 made three point field goals a game. He was third in assist with 86 and in assist per game with 5.4; while maintaining a 3-1 assist to turn over ratio. Troy was First in made free throws (86) and shot nearly 80% from the free throw line. He was First in steals with 62, First in steals per game with 3.9 and by many accounts, First in excitement.

The Premier Basketball League fans, especially from Lake Michigan and the Baltimore basketball fan faithful, will certainly attest to the excitement that Troy Franklin Jr. brings when he is on the court.

The PBL family, some professional basketball insiders and a lot of folk on this side of the Atlantic ocean are anxiously awaiting the meeting of Troy Franklin Jr., with the Danish Basketball League. If you are reading the tea leaves in the sky, it looks like a storm is brewing in the Nordic Basketball Region, that could yield a deluge of Mr. Excitement, Troy Franklin Jr.
