The undefeated Rochester RazorSharks (15-0) will look to defend their 2014 PBL Championship title when they head west to take on the Lake Michigan Admirals (12-4), who are making their first appearance in the PBL Finals in their fourth year in the league.

The Admirals are coming off their best regular season performance since joining the PBL. Not only is it their first season above .500 (their previous best was last season at 6-12) but with a strong 12-4 record, they were able to claim their first ever PBL Midwest division championship.

The four-time defending PBL champion RazorSharks have a perfect 11-0 record against the Admirals in the three seasons previous to this year (they did not meet in the regular season this year for the first time), however, this is the strongest team that the Admirals have ever had.

Majority Rules in PBL Decision to Cut Season Short

Late last week extensive internal meetings took place between team owners and the Premier Basketball League front office. Discussions between the parties centered around teams and their current financial positions as many of the owners voiced concern of their financial state due to multiple rescheduled events.
The owners proposed a resolution to shorten the season and begin playoffs immediately. The proposal to amend the scheduled season was passed with a majority vote. The league office has decided to support the owners proposal and end the regular season as of March 8th, 2015.

The conference winners from the Midwest and the East will meet for a best-of-three games championship series with game dates to be announced later this week.  The Rochester RazorSharks, who won the East division and led the league with an undefeated 15-0 record, will go on the road to take on the Lake Michigan Admirals for game one of the series at Lake Michigan with games two and three (if needed) to take place in Rochester.

“This has been an unprecedented year with weather delays and rescheduling of PBL games. The numerous winter storms has forced many owners to financially go above and beyond their originally planned team budget. As a group the owners have decided to shorten the season to better financially prepare themselves for next season,” stated PBL Commissioner, Dennis Truax.
