It's a short week for the Premier Basketball League due to one of the biggest days in the professional sports world, the Super Bowl. Due to the Super Bowl game on Sunday between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks the PBL will not have any games on Sunday, and there were no games scheduled for Friday, leaving only games on Saturday for this week.

The Erie Hurricane will have their first taste of the Philadelphia Flight when they travel across the state of Pennsylvania to take on the league's newest expansion team. The Hurricane have shown great improvements over last year when they won only a single game, however, the Flight are coming off their first victory of the season after they recently defeated the last place Lynchburg Titans.

The Lima Express finally broke away from their nasty three-game losing streak after they traveled to Illinois and defeated the Danville Riverhawks last  Sunday, 115-109.

Saturday, January 31st
Rochester RazorSharks (7-0) @ Buffalo 716ers (3-5), 2:00pm

Erie Hurricane (2-4) @ Philadelphia Flight (1-3), 5:00pm

LIma Express (4-4) @ Lake Michigan Admirals (7-2), 6:06pm

Danville Riverhawks (3-6) @ Racine Storm (5-2), 7:00pm

PBL Player of the Week
Damien Hubbard, Lynchburg Titans

In his second year with the Lynchburg Titans of the Premier Basketball League, Damien Hubbard has really taken over the team's local icon.

After his superb performance during a close 94-100 loss to the second place Carolina Pee Dee Vipers, Hubbard has been named the PBL Player of the Week.

Hubbard tied his season-high 37 points last Saturday but it's two-way performance that helped him stand apart from some of the great scorers around league. Hubbard had five assists and seven rebounds to help give the Titans extra scoring opportunities. He was also a perfect 13-13 from the free-throw line, something that is very rare to see even at the NBA level.

The second-highest overall scoring player only to Kenny Hunt who has played in all eight games so far this season, Hubbard missed the first three games of the season, but has drastically shown improvement since their team captain, Hubbard, has returned.

The Titans have the week off and will not return to game-play until Saturday, February 7th when they host the undefeated league-leading Rochester RazorSharks.

PBL Game of the Week
Rochester RazorSharks @ Buffalo 716ers
Saturday, January 31st, 2:00pm

What is building to be the largest rivalry in the Premier Basketball League, the Buffalo 716ers (3-5) will host the Rochester RazorSharks (7-0) at a troublesome time.

The 716ers are currently on a three-game losing streak and have lost five out of their last six games with their only positive outcome including a slaughter 141-80 victory over the Lynchburg Titans.

The three-game series between the two has been a consistent neck-in-neck battle until the fourth quarter when Rochester has pulled away with their smallest marginal victory coming at 13.

Gabe Freeman has been an absolute stud for the RazorSharks so far this year. He leads the team in scoring averaging 18.5-points per game and in rebounds with 74.

The 716ers lack of putting points on the board has been the teams' greatest downfall during their recent rough patch. The team doesn't have a single player who's reached 100 points so far this season and they only have one player who's scored above 60 (Glenroy Carr has 90 points in eight games).

Lewis Shine, owner and founder of the Lima Express, in the PBL, was recently recognized for his efforts and dedication to his community at the 30th annual Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration. Lewis Shine was awarded the Health Equity and Awareness Award for his impact on the Lima community through his professional basketball organization and his boot camp fitness program.
