Teams Look to Bounce Back

Following the first set of games of the New Year, the Premier Basketball League has another weekend of intense match-ups that could become detrimental for teams such as the Philadelphia Flight, who are yet to win a game, have a rematch game this weekend against the defending champion Rochester RazorSharks.

Friday's game between the Grand Rapids Cyclones and the Danville Riverhawks is also a real treat. Until last weekend's loss to the Riverhawks, the only other team to defeat the Lake Michigan Admirals was the Grand Rapids Cyclones. Even though both teams had a slow start to their season, they are both proving to be very dangerous organizations and strong contenders to make it into the post-season.

PBL GAME OF THE WEEK:

Lima Express vs. Racine Storm; Saturday, January 7th @ 7:00pm

The Premier Basketball League "Game of the Week" between the Lima Express and the Racine Storm kicks off the first official meeting between two of the best teams in the Midwest division.

The first place Lima Express (4-1) last played when they defeated the Grand Rapids Cyclones 121-92 at home. The Express had two players reach the 30-point mark that game. Cordaryl Ballard led the team with 35 points and Kyle Meyer was right behind him with 33 points scored.

The Racine Storm (3-2) currently sit in third place in the PBL Midwest division and could take the lead with a victory over Lima. A win here would put them in first place for the first time since joining the PBL while showing that they can be just as competitive on the road as they are at home. The Storm have momentum on their side as they look to continue their two-game winning streak, which included their most recent victory of 145-125 over the Danville Riverhawks while on the road.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Lima Express:
Cordaryl Ballard- 5 GP, 24.5 PPG, 15 ASSTS, 35 RBDS
Kevin Meyer-       4 GP, 18.25 PPG, 37 RBDS

Racine Storm:
Anthony Spencer- 5 GP, 27.2 PPG, 7 STLS, 49 RBDS
Reginald Bunch-   5 GP, 24.2 PPG, 7 STLS, 40 RBDS

Player of the Week
Nicholas Waddell, Lake Michigan Admirals

This week's PBL Player of the Week is Nicholas Waddell of the Lake Michigan Admirals.

After only five games this season Waddell leads the team in both scoring (114) and in total rebounds (53), but it was one recent performance that made him a nominee for this week's PBL Player of the Week.

On Saturday, January 3rd the Admirals lost their second game of the season to the Riverhawks 132-126 and dropped to second place the PBL East, but it wasn't because of Waddell. Nicholas led the team in scoring with 30 points and pulled down a total of 17 rebounds to give Lake Michigan more scoring opportunities.

Waddell and the Lake Michigan Admirals look for a chance for redemption to claim first again in their division with a victory on Saturday when they go to Michigan to take on the Grand Rapids Cyclones.
