Tyrone Johnson, a native of Chicago, Illinois, was selected as the highlight player for the Soul of the South television program covering the PBL combine.

Media would follow Johnson around, interview him about his experience and about basketball in general. We had a chance to sit and ask a few question with Tyrone.

PBL: What was it like having all those cameras following you around for the SOS TV special?
TJ: I loved the cameras in my face. It made me feel special, like I was already famous. Also, it made me more excited knowing I was being watched, plus it made me play harder.

PBL: It's Sunday afternoon, what are you usually doing?
TJ: I wake up, do 100 pushups, 250 situps, go to the local park and do 30 minute dribbling drills and 30 minutes whole court running. I relax for about 3 hours, then I this this gym called Xsports in downtown Chicago, play basketball there and then relax the rest of the day.

PBL: What was your major in school?
TJ: Business Management

PBL: Outside of basketball, what is your favorite sport/team?
TJ: Besides basketball my favorite would have to be soccer. That's funny I know, but I really love that game. You have to be in almost excellent condition to play it. Team is Spain.

PBL: Last but not least, who's your basketball role model?
TJ: Penny Hardaway

Buffalo 716ers to Host Workout for FIBA Agents

Following the success of the nation wide league combine last weekend, the Buffalo 716ers will be hosting a private workout for players to have a chance to be scouted. The event on Sunday, September 7th will be for invites only beginning at 1pm.

Numerous teams from the Premier Basketball League include the 716ers, the Erie Hurricane and Rochester RazorSharks.

Other sports agencies representing the NBA, Europe and Central America will also be in attendance.

"When I started the 716ers I wanted to create opportunities for local players to get noticed and continue playing after college. Events like private workouts and the multi-team combine are results of a lot of hard work to show the nation that Buffalo is serious about pro basketball," stated team owner Tawan Slaughter.

For those interested in participating in showcasing their skills out east can find available information at www.buffalo716ers.net.
2014-15 Season Begins With Successful Combine

It's a wrap for the Premier Basketball League off-season. This past weekend's league combine kicked off preparations for the upcoming season.

Brooke Wilson Chandler, (in the middle of the above photo) of the Denver Nuggets, made a special appearance at the league combine on Saturday where he took pictures with players, media and young basketball fans.

Although Chandler may have stole the show at the end, many of these young prospects had a chance to showcase their skills to PBL teams across the league in hopes of pursuing their dreams of reaching the big leagues one day.

These players were also filmed performing drills, scrimmages and were interviewed for a national television program with the league's TV partner, Soul of the South network.

PBL Welcomes New Office Member

The newest member of the PBL front office comes as a more familiar face.

Dennis Truax, formerly of the CBA, USBL and most recently the NBL-Canada will serve the PBL as the Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.

Effective immediately, Truax will use his successful background to help the growth and expansion of the PBL.

The last two years, Traux served as the General Manager and Head Coach for the Moncton Miracles in the NBL-Canada. The Miracles would move on to the post-season both years and would have players go on to receive awards such as League MVP and Rookie of the Year.

"I am excited to become a part of such a prestigious league," stated Truax. "This is a league on the cusp of great things and to be able to work with these great players, owners and staff is very rewarding."
