The PBL Announces Northeast Division Additions

The Premier Basketball League today announced that the Buffalo 716ers have reached an agreement with the PBL to return for the upcoming 2015-16 season.  Along with the return of the 716ers, the Chautauqua Hurricanes will join the PBL for the new season.  Per league policy, terms of the agreements are confidential.

The Buffalo 716ers will return to the PBL after a short summer hiatus away.  The 716ers will call the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College home this season. This move to a modern facility will enable the 716ers to host an ESPN3 contest for the first time in franchise history.  The Chautauqua Hurricanes will play Steele Hall Fieldhouse on the campus of SUNY Fredonia.  Both franchises will play in the Eastern Conference this season.

“We are excited to rejoin the PBL with our two franchises,” said principal owner Tawan Slaughter.  “The PBL has always been home for me and we are looking to compete for a conference title and the league championship this season.  Both teams will be a force both on and off the floor.  I look forward to the upcoming season and providing our fans and sponsors the best product in the league.”

“We are glad to have Tawan and her two franchises back in the fold in the PBL,” stated PBL Commissioner Dennis Truax.  “Her franchises provide the PBL with strategically placed teams, which will help with keeping traveling costs down, while establishing new rivalries due to the proximity of the existing franchises.  Buffalo has always competed on the floor and we look to have both them and the new team in Chautauqua play a role in the new season.”

The Charlotte Elite Sign Former ISU Starting PG Anthony Cousin

The Charlotte Elite have announced a major in-season signing after releasing three players in November. The Elite signed point guard Anthony Cousin after a stint in Montenegro and a successful career as an ISU Redbird.

Cousin spent three seasons as either a starting point guard or one of the first assets off the bench. Cousin was known and remembered for his impeccable ability to pass the basketball ending his career as the all-time leader in assists with 168.

The Elite will look to Cousin for a needed level of experience, leadership and court intelligence to help them navigate the tough Southeast division.
