The PBL Announces February Award Winners

Chicago, IL - The Premier Basketball League (PBL) announced the award winners for the month of February.  Capturing Player of the Month honors for the Northeast Division was Michael Davenport of the Jamestown Jackals.  Greg Foster of the Indianapolis Diesels is the Player of the Month for the Midwest Division and Greg Motley of the Raleigh Revolt was named the Coach of the Month for his efforts in the Southeast Division.

Davenport, a 6-5 guard from St. Bonaventure, is currently third in the PBL in scoring and has the Jackals in second place in the crowded Northeast Division.  Davenport averaged 26.5 ppg. this past month, shooting 59% from the field.  In a 111-107 overtime win over Buffalo, Davenport had a 30 point effort to move the Jackals into second place.

Foster joined the Diesels in late January and has been a much needed addition for Indianapolis.  Foster exploded for a 48 point effort, a PBL season high, and has the only triple-double of the season.  Foster had 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists in a 128-103 win over Danville on February 28. 

Motley has the Raleigh Revolt on top of the Southeast Division with an undefeated 8-0 mark.  The Revolt have held their opponents to under 40% shooting from the field and knocked off rival Wilmington 144-125 in a battle for first place. The Revolt are at the top of the Southeast Division and hold a commanding three game lead as the season reaches the final weeks of play.



Buffalo 716er's Jake Simmons To Coach AAU Team

716ers Jake Simmons has been hired to coach the 16u boys division team.

Jake has broken several scoring titles for Buffalo State College, and hold the All-time Scoring record for Buffalo State. He has been with the Buffalo 716ers for two seasons.

Brandon Caruthers

Brandon Caruthers signs with the 716ers for the 2016 season. Brandon played for the 716ers last season.

He attended College at Brockport State University of New York. "He is a great addition to our backcourt. He is a true point guard and at this point in the season we need his leadership. He came in and dominated for us last season. I am extremely glad to have him back." stated General Manager, Tawan Slaughter.



Kentucky Mavs Sign Kentucky Native

The Kentucky Mavericks are making moves again signing 24 year old Kentucky native Corey Wilford.  The 6’2 guard played for Christian County High School, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where he averaged 17 point per game his senior year.  He led his team to the state playoffs, earning himself Honorable Mention All-State recognition.

Wilford played two years for the Connors State Junior College before transferring to Southeast Missouri State (SMS).  At SMS he started 27 out of 57 games played.  During his time at SMS, Wilford averaged 10.8 points per game, shooting 40% from three-point range, in 22.6 minutes per game.

After college, Wilford came back close to home signing with his first professional team, the Bowling Green Bandits of the ABA.  He averaged 33.5 points per game this season.  He also shot 70% from three-point line including a two game stretch where he shot 22-22 behind the line.

Transfer from Jacksonville (Texas) Junior College was Missouri Valley sixth man of the year as a junior in 2002-03 and made the Valley’s all-bench team both seasons, averaging 12.2 and 8.3 points.

The Lake Michigan Admirals Sign Former PBL All-Star Nicholas Waddell

The Lake Michigan Admirals signed former ALL PBL PLAYER Nicholas "Game Time" Waddell for the rest of the 2016 season.

Waddell has been in Argentina since last year and is in great physical shape. "Having last year's league leading rebounder join us, is huge," stated Coach Ace of the Admirals.
